KOLO is a modular pendant system, which draws references on the familiar glass spheres found in entrances, cafés and street lighting in Vienna. Made from mouth-blown glass, a technique which leaves the surface uneven, bubbled, and never quite the same twice every single unit is unique.
By constructing the lighting system around central mechanisms for "holding" and "clamping" the pieces together the visible springs and the steel rope become central elements in the design and take reference to traditional mechanisms for pendant light systems whilst reinterpreting them.
Details which usually stay hidden become visible and central elements for the design of KOLO.
